The abysmal failures of Chris Reed as a prophetic prognosticator

Once again, I will blog in English. The reason is twofold. 1. I will investigate so-called prophetic messages that were given in English, and it makes little sense to cite the original text in one language and then evaluate the word I Swedish. Translating the messages would take too much time to do justice to the nuances. 2. Maybe this will be of benefit to a wider audience.

I will test “Forty Prophecies for 2023 and Beyond”, by Chris Reed, published on Morningstar Ministries web site December 29, 2022. One reason I chose this word is the fact that I do not need to do the compiling myself. Usually, specific predictions are spread out across several messages and intertwined with non-predictive utterances. Another reason is the clearly defined time-frame. Even though the heading says “2023 and beyond”, the contents for almost every prediction makes the 2024 election the upper boundary for them to apply.

The so-called prophetic predictions were published on the Morningstar website December 28 2022.

The TL;DR version is simple. Reed failed spectacularly. These are clearly not words from the Lord but emanate from his fleshly wishes.

I know that Reed has been disgraced. He has been caught faking prophetic revelations, using social media and other investigative methods to emulate “words of knowledge”. He has also been caught using the prophetic to manipulate women to have sex with him. However, the predictions are still online at Morningstar Ministries, and they provide valuable insight into how the prophetic work in these circles – or rather what a mess it has become!

My methodology

Now the word is said to be for 2023 and beyond, and I am writing this in April 2025. Some things might come to pass, perhaps, but, as I said, a lot of the predictions concerned stuff that would happen during the Biden administration, which has come to an end. Thus, a lot of these predictions are now clearly testable.

In addition to the question of whether the predictions did come true or not, it is even more revealing to see what biases Reed had (and probably still has) and how they turned into these wishful prophecies from his flesh.

I will quote a section at a time and give my feedback. I will evaluate these predictions using several criteria:

  1. Are they specific and revealing or are they vague and could be applied to so many possible events that they are not saying anything of value?
  2. Are they predictions that anyone could have made or are they something that only true prophetic revelation could tell?
  3. Have they come to pass?
  4. Do they conform to a certain narrative?

In all this I will keep a score on the first three criteria. I do this to get some kind of measurement on the quality of the so-called prophetic predictions. Vague predictions count as 1, specific predictions as 2-5, depending on how specific one could reasonably say they are. Things that anybody could have foreseen count as 0. I will multiply that number with a number between -3 and +3. A single prediction could therefore generate between -15 and + 15 points. There are 40 numbered predictions given, but some of them contain multiple sub-predictions. They will be evaluated individually, unless that skews the prediction.

Let me explain that last point. Consider someone says, “tomorrow the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors will meet, Lakers will win by at least 12 points and Lebron James will have a 30+ points triple double.” If someone knows the NBA schedule it takes zero prophetic insight to predict a game. If someone has some knowledge of where the teams are in their respective schedules (playing back-to-back on the road versus being well rested, having key players injured versus everyone being healthy, etc.) the second prediction might be risky, or it might be safe bet. The third prediction could happen. LeBron is that kind of player, but the probability is still low. But how would you evaluate the prediction if the game is played, Lakers win by 5 and LeBron has a stat line of 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists – a very solid game but not as good as predicted? Two parts are 100 % correct. The game was played and the Lakers won. The next parts are wrong. They contain three factual errors:

  1. The margin of victory.
  2. The number of points scored by LeBron.
  3. The triple double that did not happen.

The correct parts mainly serve the purpose of setting up the stage for the predictions about the winning margin and the heroics of LeBron James. It would be disingenuous to give the person who made the prediction any credit, even though he was in a strict technical sense correct.

I am using this score-keeping method in order to minimize the influence from my own personal biases.

At the end I will also evaluate these prophecies from a biblical perspective.

Chris Reed’s Introduction

The following is the result of three months of praying, fasting, and asking God to show me what is coming in 2023 and beyond. It includes trances, encounters, and things I have seen. The Lord has called us to take the prophetic to a higher level. We know in part and prophesy in part. Perhaps God will give other people other pieces to help make sense of the whole, but here is my piece:

Reed starts off by saying that this is an effort to take the prophetic “to a higher level”. We will simply take note of that for now and come back to the question what “high level” prophecy would be, biblically speaking, at the end.

Predictions

  1. I saw an exposure of Chinese money and bribery. The beginnings of this will include a major exposure which will begin the downfall of the Biden administration.

This prophecy should have come to pass before the election of 2024. Indeed, this was supposed to be the “beginning” of the downfall and thus happen before most of the following points. The first part is unspecific but should be identifiable (3). The second part – the repercussions – are very specific (5).

Neither clearly did not happen. 3 x -3 plus 5 x -3 = -24. Not really a great start.

What narrative is it? The phrase ”T”the downfall of the Biden administration” tells it all.

  1. The Hunter Biden laptop case, which was suppressed before the 2020 election, is about to be opened. This issue will become a centerfold in the news and will tremendously hurt his father’s credibility and past claims. Last year, the Lord showed me this would hurt his father to the point to where he will lose power and be out of office before the 2024 election.

The Hunter Biden laptop – few things were repeated as much as this one on Fox news and similar channels. It would have been more impressive if he had predicted something completely unknown at the time! Let’s walk through this point:

The fact that the case was about to be opened is trivial. I will not evaluate it.

Was it “suppressed” before the 2020 election. According to right wing media, yes. Still, that is not a prediction and thus ignored. But we are taking note of what narrative Reed is buying into.

The fact that this case would be news is not really a prediction that took much prophetic inspiration either. Right wing media were all over that laptop and it was clear that they would pursue the story – or make up parts of it! Once again, it was very trivial. Ignored for evaluation.

The one prediction that is testable is that Biden would be put out of office before the 2024 election. Very specific (5) – complete fail (-3).

The score: -24 + (-15) = -39.

  1. President Joe Biden’s health will continue to fail. I do not wish him harm. I pray for him. I pray for God to remove him, but I also pray for him and his salvation and for him to become a Saul of Tarsus figure. He will lose power, and it will be convenient for the Democrats to not have him leading the 2024 ticket. He will attempt to redeem his failed presidency by making a woman president for the first time. I have seen Kamala Harris at the helm, but only for a short time—weeks or months.

To what extent did Biden’s health fail. Even though his health issues were exaggerated by right wing media, they did indeed become a problem. However, that was predicted as well, over and over by the same media. The first part of this point did not require much prophetic insight. I give it +1 and +2.

The prayers are telling. They demonstrate Reed’s bias. Has anyone ever heard him pray that way about Donald Trump, who clearly exhibits lots of traits of being an unbeliever?

The next part is more specific and might not have happened. Biden was indeed removed from the ticket, but according to the last point that would have happened anyway. This I just an alternate explanation, but a far better one. On its own it would have been +4, but I will reduce that to +3, since there is a contradiction with the last point.

Then Reed went on to predict a short-lived Kamala Harris presidency. I heard that from several other so-called prophets as well. Reed’s prediction is not unique, but still very specific. +5 for detail, -3 for accuracy.

The score: -39 + 4×3 + 5x(-3) = -42

By the way, other so-called prophets predicted that neither Biden or Harris would be on the democratic ticket. And many, of course, said that Trump would return long before the 2024 election, not through it.

  1. Unfortunately, we will see a continued rise in inflation and a nosedive in residential and commercial real estate values. There will be a significant housing mortgage crisis, but not as bad as 2008. Precious metals and land will become better, safer investments.

I could not evaluate this point using my pre-existing knowledge. I do not have that specific insight into economics, so I used ChatGPT. It broke the prediction down into 4 parts:

Continued inflation? The inflation peaked in 2022 and came down in 2023 and 2024. There was some inflation, though, so I put it at 1 for detail and 1 for accuracy.

Real estate nosedive? True for commercial but not true for residential. I will give it and 2 for detail and 0 for accuracy, letting the two parts even out.

Mortgage crisis? It should have been a significant and thus easily identifiable one. Complete fail. 3 and -3.

Metals and land? Yes, that did happen. ChatGPT says “largely correct”. 3 and +2.

The score: -42 + 1×1 + 2×0 + 3x(-3) + 3×2 = -44

  1. There is coming a naval conflict in the South China Sea, which will cause the world markets to plummet. China will be involved and might claim it was an accident. The U.S. will be affected by this and will be in the middle of this growing China-Taiwan conflict.

Naval conflict in the South China sea (SCS)? Once again mor of a thing one can predict by watching the regular news. 1 for detail, 1 for accuracy. (ChatGPT says “Tensions yes; open conflict no”.)

SCS tension causing a market plummet?  Not at all. 3 for detail, as the plummet was supposed to have an identifiable cause. -3 for accuracy.

A specific incident that China will blame on an accident. 3 for detail, -3 for accuracy.

The US will be affected? No-brainer. Not evaluated.

The score: -44 + 1×1 + 3x(-3) + (3x(-3) = -61

As I am writing this in April 2025 the markets all around the world have crashed in a major way. Trillions of dollars in worth have been erased in a few days. But it was not a conflict in SCS that caused it, but President Trump imposing arbitrary tariffs on almost every nation in the world.

I will make a not at all bold very non-prophetic prediction, using nothing but my accumulated experience: No single so-called prophet in the circles where Chris Reed used to move did predict anything like it. It does not fit their narrative.

Neither does it fit the market crash David Wilkerson talked about in his book The Vision, that I am also evaluating. It does not fit Wilkerson’s time frame or his specifics. It was supposed to start in Europe, not America.

The verdict so far

Chris Reed has a score of negative 61. The worst possible score would have been -114, but it is statistically almost impossible to get that low. The best possible score would have been +114, once again almost impossible from a statistical point of view. From a prophetical point of view, at least a positive score of 61 would be expected. Reed fails so hard it is unimaginable that anyone could consider him a reliable prophet.

When Reed gave the prophecy about the downfall of Joe Biden he said ”I am not guessing, This is not guesswork”. Actually, guesswork would probably have scored higher, because a true guess would not be affected by any bias.

I will continue my evaluation in a forthcoming article.
